Hello Spring!

"Hello Spring" 7x7 inch print. Click here to purchase.

Oh, don't we wish it was Spring already!! We had a little tear in the veil of winter this Friday, but it was sewn up over the weekend by some cold northern wind and a sprinkle of flurries. Brrrrrr. Apparently more snow is expected here in New York again tomorrow. I am going to stay inside and contemplate warmer weather.

I guess it was a day all around for creating because Annabelle was very busy herself today with what I think is an amazing little collage for a two-year-old.

She put all of these stickers on herself!! I wasn't there for the process, but her papa said she sat mesmerized by a pile of stickers at The American Girl Place for 40 minutes painstakingly applying these beauties. So I say to all you moms out there -- BUY STICKERS. Anything that can amuse a 2-year-old for 40 minutes is worth the investment. I am going to have to make a Michael's run this week. If only I'd gone yesterday. Before the snow...

Sanctuary

I completed this new painting, "Sanctuary," today in honor of SPRING. The weather has been a tiny bit warmer and sunnier (which isn't much here in the northeast), and I was filled with a desire to capture the feeling of warm, sunlit air and blooming flower and trees. It seems like nature was on the same page, because we apparently have lots of little flower buds peeping through the soil in our front yard. I'm so excited!

Some of the colors here are inspired by the new Benjamin Moore line for Pottery Barn. My mom sent us a gorgeous tray from Pottery Barn that came with the catalogue and a chip book of paint colors. I think we are going to paint our living room "Oak Ridge" (the beige color here) and add lots of bright artwork to liven it up. But that's the only color I can count on knowing for the future because I chopped that paint chip book to shreds for some of the leaves on this colorful tree. All in all, it was a very fun Thursday -- my official painting day.

This original painting is available for sale on my website, and prints will be up on ETSY tomorrow.
