Synchronicity

"Birds of a Feather" by Marisa Haedike of Creative Thursday.
Well... I just can't believe it, but my good friend Marisa of Creative Thursdsay posted a painting called "Birds of a Feather" today on her blog and in her ETSY shop. This amazes me because mine really just painted itself -- and title seemed perfect for the subject matter. Maybe we really DO tap into the collective unconscious when we create art in this manner. Hmmm.... what could this all mean?
I'm not sure, but one thing I do know is how much I value all of the kind people who left me comments about the two versions of my found art painting posted yesterday. It looks like version #2 was the winner. I'm also comforted to hear how many others out there also deal with 'painters' block.' Deanna has a great post about this on her blog. If you decide to do a "found art" experiment and would like to share it, please let me know. I will post any "entries" I receive on Thurdsay. xox

Found Art

"Birds of a Feather" 8x10 print on 8.5x11 inch velvet fine art paper. Available here on ETSY.

Yesterday I was frustrated. I was sitting in my studio trying to figure out what to paint for the day when I just gave up and adhered a red circle to my wood canvas. Then I stuck on a pink one next to it. Then I looked down and saw these birds kissing in a pattern in some paper and cut them out. The rest of the painting just evolved! It was a very interesting experiment, I think, in just letting go and CREATING! Sometimes it's fun to just to do an exercise in "found art." And I bet it would be really fun with kids.

The thing is -- I actually did this painting two times. After I finished the above piece, I thought it would look better on just a pale blue background. Here is version #2:

And the problem is that I like this version, too!! Which one do you like better? Right now I have the first one up on ETSY, but I am still not sure that it is the "winner." I'd love your opinion...
