Heading In

"Heading In" Acrylic and Mixed Media on Wood. 8x8 inches. Original is sold, but prints are available on ETSY.

Finally! I'm back to work and having a great time with my new series of surfing paintings. This one depicts a lone, tired yet happy surfer returning home after a day of bliss on the ocean. My alternate title for this one is "Perfect Day," but I liked "Heading In" better because it made a bit of sense of the landscape. It makes me wistful for California...

Lovely Lavender

"Au Printemps" 5x5 inch acrylic & mixed media on wood.
(click here to purchase original from my website)

I've never actually worked with purple before, so it was fun to experiment with today's 'bouqet.' I had the whole day to paint on this sunny Saturday, so I was able to complete a comissioned triptych and this little floral piece as well! Plus, I may get more work than I'd imagined done due to this pregnancy -- it seems like I've expanded to mammoth proportions overnight. At only 7 months along, I can no longer find a comfortable position for lying down. Maybe I'll learn how to sleep standing up!!

Well, I hope you enjoy this little lavender confection!

A Different View

Here is a new painting that I completed this morning called "A Different View." It is 7x8 inches and a mixed media collage/painting on wood. I actually started the sketch for it on a rainy Saturday, and it was much different. I had a girl walking in the wind (she may turn up in a new painting soon!) with leaves blowing around her. Then, yesteday, I was in kind of a bad mood, so I thought I would paint to cheer myself up. It worked, and, of course, the girl in the painting is inspired by her "new view." Thank goodness for art!!

The original piece is now available on my website, and prints are coming soon to my ETSY shop.
