A Fresh Start

Hello friends. I have missed you so much! The last year and a half has been a time of substantial change in my life -- a change that required my blog to go into "hibernation."  But, like sleep itself -- this time of rest is also a time where much dreaming goes on beneath the surface. And I have been busy.

It has been a time of endings and new beginnings. My etsy shop -- which many of you have been familiar with for years -- has closed, but this is because my fine art work is now being officially represented by Lyrical Fine Arts, a division of the LaMantia Gallery.  They are now selling my original paintings and limited edition giclees photographed by Blazing Editions.  And in March my work was unveiled at Art Expo 2012 in NYC

Oh yeah. And my encaustic paintings have had to become much BIGGER. Here is one being created in the old studio.

No, I am not working as Thomas Kinkade's ghost painter. lol. This is me in front of my work in the LaMantia Gallery window on Main Street in Northport, NY.

There have been other beginnings, too. In May, I launched a new graphic design company called Little Red Bird, Inc. I am very excited for the launch of this company because it gives me a great opportunity to delve into my love of illustration, pattern design and ceramics. The bird is still spreading her wings right now... but here are some inklings of what lies ahead.

It is so wonderful to be back from "hibernation." Please stay tuned as this adventure unfolds. Hugs to you all!

Thanksgiving

Dear friends ... and colleagues kind enough to be visiting my blog despite its paltry recent history of posts:  I just want to say THANK YOU for stopping by.  It has meant so much to me over the years to have you here listening, supporting, cheering and participating in my artistic process.  And I apologize for my silence in 2011.  This has been a year of many changes.  They are too raw to describe at this moment, but despite their challenges, I have been painting every week, diligently pouring my imagination into wax in order to thresh these feelings into an alchemy of transcendence.  There are many new paintings to reveal, but I am waiting for the opportune moment. Stay tuned. Thank you for being here.

Happy Thanksgiving 2011. Love to you, Cathy

Accessorizing is an Art, Too!

"Sola LOVE," "Xovia LOVE" and "Ivy TREE" bags by Sherpani.  Now for sale at The Firefly Gallery in Northport!

A sweet close-up of the Ivy TREE bag - isn't the hang tag cute?

I'm now selling a few of the beautiful bags created by Sherpani that feature my artwork at my Firefly Gallery.  The line is called Elements, and the bags are made of entirely vegan materials including recycled illuminum. I use the Ivy bag every day, and I love the way Sherpani has incorporated the great gear compartments of their usual sport lines with these stylish, everyday bags. The neutral color works with every outfit, too!

L.O.V.E. Series #3

24x24 inch original encaustic painting on wood panel. Prints for sale here.

This is a really big LOVE painting. I created it to display in my new gallery -- The Firefly Artists -- opening on Saturday. But the colors were defnintely inspired by spring. The entire thing is created using pure beeswax -- and when you look at those little bees on the "E" closely, it smells like a honeycomb.  I will be calling for submissions to the new gallery shortly, so check back soon. :)
